I started Yo! Sushi after leaving jail. Here’s how I’d fix prisons.
Simon Woodroffe says prison officers should have the same status as teachers and learnt from his own experience that most inmates need treatment not punishment.
Simon remembers clearly the year his life changed. It was 1969 and the Yo! Sushi founder was 17, a hippy living in a flat doing his A-levels at Cambridge Tech.
“We were doing peace signs and really meaning them,” he says, “Smoking a bit of dope and taking acid. It was the very early days of psychedelics.”
