The People of YO!

Simon Woodroffe

Simon was variously a bus conductor, roadie, stage designer, television executive and ski bum before spending two years creating YO! Sushi with his own limited funds. YO! Sushi opened 22 January 1997 and spawned the way for future YO! projects. For full information about Simon including public speaking and media requests, click here.

Robin Rowland

After a chance meeting with Simon Woodroffe (Founder of YO! Sushi), Robin joined YO! Sushi as Operations Director in July 1999 and took over as CEO in September 2000. In 2003, he led a management buy-out backed by venture capitalist, Primary Capital. Over the next 5 years Robin and his team built the YO! Sushi into a strong, desirable and profitable brand and in 2008 Primary Capital sold YO! Sushi to Quilvest and YO! Sushi's management team. Today YO! Sushi has opened more than 100 restaurants worldwide and serves 3m+ customers a year.

Gerard Greene

Gerard is on a mission to revolutionize the hotel industry and save consumers from expensive and boring hotels. To do this he sold his home and joined forces with Simon in July 2002. Previously, Gerard worked at an operational level for Hyatt International, Marriott Hotels and Conran Restaurants. "The majority of hotels in the world are either poorly designed, badly managed or ridiculously expensive. Operators such as One Aldwych, Hotel du Vin and Malmaison have led the way in excellence and value for money. YOTEL will continue this mantra but at the more affordable end of the spectrum." Gerard can be found on his bicycle training for a triathlon, cruising in his classic car or snooping around hotels, checking out the competition.

Nicholas Tardent

Born in Australia, Nick came from a general management background first at retail giant HMV, then the Toni&Guy group. He has worked with Simon for 10 years and runs the YO! licensing business, responsible for all accounting and administrative functions within the organisation. He is obsessed about music and creating the perfect playlist.

Jack Spurrier

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jack has a degree in Business of Real Estate. He was with Capital and Counties for 4 years on the Asset Management team, working on the development and regeneration of Covent Garden. Jack leads the YO! Home project.
